The Power Distribution Panel - PDP

Theory of Operation
United Electronics Corporation’s PDPs receive 60Hz power by the way of cylindrical connector on its outside panel. Power, at 120/208 volts, 3-phase, is distributed and controlled in a board under a weather resistant cover, or dead front panel. Individual 3-phase and single-phase circuit breakers control power output to military style Class L connectors and NEMA-style “twist lock” connectors, for connection by cable to users’ equipment. All circuit breakers are of the thermal-magnetic trip type, which open if one or more phases is overloaded. In addition to the thermal-magnetic trip, all of the 20-ampere, single phase circuit breakers are of the Ground Fault Circuit Interruption (GFCI) type which trip when a small leakage circuit to the ground is detected.

Construction
UEC builds the PDP cabinets with an aluminum alloy, allowing them to be both sturdy and lightweight. In fact, only the 100kw and 200kw models require more than one person to move them, and the larger models are constructed in such a way that they can easily be moved by forklift or sling. All units have been tested for extreme environment operations and can be powder coated in almost any military color scheme.
